The McCook Humane Society was established in 1983 and serves a radius of 90 miles in Southwest Nebraska and Northwest Kansas.  There were 1200 animals surrendered to the shelter in 2001 and the adoption percentage was 66%. The Humane Society is funded by donations and remains an independent organization.
